The Tampa Bay Lightning and NY Rangers will complete a home and home this week on Monday night at Madison Square Garden and New York welcomes home former captain Ryan Callahan at 7 pm ET and the game is on the NHL Network as Martin St. Louis takes on his old team at MSG and has Rick Nash looking to continue his hot start to the season.

The Rangers come into the game after a win against the Flyers and that was the second straight dominant win against Philly this season. The two teams battled in the playoffs last season and went seven before the Rangers won and now NY has gotten the advantage during the season. The Rangers have their second matchup in as many weeks with Tampa and then the team has the Detroit Red Wings next on the schedule. The team is ranked in the top 10 in scoring this season and that has been huge as they try and play with more consistency.

Rick Nash is one of the league leaders in goals and he has been off to a great start and he is also leading the team in points for the season. The team is right in the middle of the pack in goals allowed and they are looking for Henrik Lundqvist to play at a higher level this season, although they are not worried about him doing so. Derick Brassard had two goals in the last game against the Flyers and Martin St. Louis scored the 1,000th point of his career and he has been heating up after a slow start.

The Lightning come into the game after a win over the Ottawa Senators and they will be playing on the road against the Buffalo Sabres next. The team has 34 points on the season and they have been one of the best clubs in the east to open the year. The team added Ryan Callahan and others and now they are 16-6-2 on the season. The Rangers come in at 11-8-4 and they will be looking to bounce back after losing to TB last week in Florida.

Tampa comes into the game at first in the league in scoring this season and that is one reason why they have been so consistent. The team is ranked third in power play percentage and they are 14th in goals against and heading into this next stretch they have the chance to build their lead in the division in the Atlantic. The Rangers are currently third in their division and they have won the last two games and four of the last five.

The Rangers have won three times over the Flyers in a recent stretch and their only loss in the past five games has been against the Lightning. The Rangers have played well at times against top competition, but they have also played down to opponents and that is something they need to get right. The team made it to the Stanley Cup finals last season and to get anywhere close to that they need to play better as a team.
