Washington Redskins Rumors: Robert Griffin III Traded if Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota Drafted? Jay Gruden Favors Colt McCoy as Jets, Raiders QB Options

The downfall of the Washington Redskins continues after the team fell to the Indianapolis Colts 27-49. Quarterback Colt McCoy could not muster up a win after replacing Robert Griffin III in Week 13, but he did play well enough to earn another start. This only increases the quarterback drama surrounding the Redskins at the moment as NFL sources suggest Washington is fully prepared to move on from the quarterback at the end of the season.

McCoy played well despite the loss. The third-string quarterback went 31 of 47 for 392 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked six times for 51 yards. Head coach Jay Gruden said after the game that he felt McCoy played well enough to get another look in the future, telling the team website, "Yes, I feel like he competed and did a good job out there. He came back and gave us a chance."

According to team sources via Fansided.com, McCoy will get the nod again in Week 14 over Griffin. Of course the decision is not official. The Redskins will give Griffin every chance possible to earn back the starting job, but for now it appears it is McCoy's to lose. The quarterback certainly played well, but did not get the win. However, he did look more comfortable in the offense than Griffin has which only hurts the former Offensive Rookie of the Year's future even more.

According to CBSSports.com, the Redskins are prepared to part ways with Griffin at the end of the year, the question just remains whether or not it is via trade or release. CBS Sports believes that the Redskins will attempted to trade him this offseason, contacting five evaluators to see what kind of deal the quarterback would garner. Most believe that third-round draft pick is the highest the team could get. Griffin has one more year and $3.3 million remaining on his contract with a fifth-year option worth more that $16 million in 2016.

The Redskins are setting themselves up for a high draft pick which could mean the team decides to grab a quarterback. If Gruden remains the head coach, he could seek to bring in his own guy to build the team around. Could Washington target Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota or Brett Hundley? The team could also opt to keep McCoy and chase a free agent like Mark Sanchez or Ryan Mallett in the offseason. It is clear that Griffin's time in Washington is ending, the question now remains how the Redskins move on.
