Penn State Sanctions: No PSU Players to Attend Big Ten Media Days

With the NCAA sanctions levied against Penn State allowing all current Nittany Lions players to transfer with immediate eligibility, there's no way of knowing exactly who will be suiting up for new head coach Bill O'Brien this fall, particularly after Iowa, Syracuse and UCF have made it known that they'll be recruiting from PSU in the coming days.

So, it makes sense that none of Penn State's players will be attending Big Ten Media Days, which start Thursday in Chicago at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place. Junior running back Silas Redd, senior defensive tackle Jordan Hill and redshirt junior guard John Urschel had been scheduled to attend.

Redd and Hill have been named as two of the five players who will be most sought after by teams looking to recruit transfers from Penn State in the wake of Monday's NCAA sanctions, which include a four-year bowl ban and a loss of scholarships in addition to a $60 million fine. Urschel completed his degree at Penn State in three years with a 4.0 grade-point average and is scheduled to begin graduate school this fall.

Redd ran for 1,241 yards and seven touchdowns in his sophomore season, and was conspicuous by his absence when some 25 members of the current Penn State team gave a statement to say that they weren't planning on going anywhere. He was, however, on his way to Media Days before it was announced that no PSU players will be in attendance. He has been linked to USC by ESPN.com's Joe Schad.

Hill, meanwhile, is regarded as one of the top defensive linemen in the Big Ten, with 59 tackles, three fumble recoveries and 3.5 sacks last season. Urschel, meanwhile, helped Penn State lead the Big Ten last year in fewest sacks allowed.

Whether players like Redd and Hill will be going elsewhere to continue their college football careers is uncertain so far. What is known is that they aren't going to Chicago for Media Days.
