Marshawn Lynch is considered one of the best players on the roster for the Seattle Seahawks and yet the running back's future has been put into doubt for most of the season. Lynch has never been the easiest player to deal with in his tenure with Seattle which constantly overshadowed his play on the field. With one more year remaining on his current contract, will Seattle trade the running back or retain him if he improves?
According to Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, the team is not giving Lynch the ball enough. The running back had just 67 yards against the Oakland Raiders and that simply is not enough for the running back who is capable of carrying the team on his back.
"We want to use our good players," Bevell said, via The Seattle Times. "And he's definitely, probably the best player on our offense and we want to get him the ball as many ways as we can."
It is clear the Seahawks think a lot of Lynch, especially if they are noting that he is not getting enough each week. Lynch has made it clear that he is not happy with his current contract with Seattle, making just $6 million this season and $5 million in 2015. The running back held out at the beginning of the season and the Seahawks have not stated whether they intend to keep him through his contract. If not, plenty of teams would love to have the Beast Mode on their roster.
Could the Denver Broncos be interested in a deal come the offseason? The Broncos have not been thrilled with the rushing attack at this point in the season. With Montee Ball sitting out with injury, Ronnie Hillman is struggling to make an impact and offensive coordinator Adam Gase is noticing.
"Anytime your two best runs were the last two runs of the game, that's probably more than a disappointment," Gase said, via the Denver Post. "I was really frustrated with the fact that we did not run the ball better. We do need to find a way to do it better. It's something we have to keep working on. We have to find a way to get these guys covered up (blocked), get our backs back to the line of the scrimmage and see what they can do."
The Oakland Raiders will gladly lineup for a deal with Lynch. The team is suffering from the struggles with Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew. Neither back is expected to return which leaves room for Lynch. He would be a huge upgrade and likely come cheap considering just how weak the running back market is in the league.
