The biggest name remaining on the free agent market is Ray Allen. The veteran has been toying with his future for the entire offseason and despite interest coming from several teams in the league, he opted not to sign with anyone. Most assumed he simply did not want to participate in training camp, but now with the year in full swing, Allen is still not on a roster. However, could that soon be changing as the Chicago Bulls seek out a deal?

According to Chicago radio host Silvy of the show "Waddle & Silvy", Allen was spotted in town and is assumed to be speaking with the Bulls about a possible contract. However, Allen's agent reports that the visit to Chicago has nothing to do with signing with the Bulls for the remainder of the season. This could or could not be true. A deal with the Bulls certainly does make sense if it were true. Right now, the team is dealing with injuries to Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler. Mike Dunleavy is not looking at the moment. Allen would give the bench a big boost. However, with players like Doug McDermott looking strong in his rookie campaign, the move is not a necessity.

The curious case of Allen continues. The veteran could wait until after the holidays and join on with a contending team for a second-half run. Allen likely has zero desire to sign on with just any team. His career only has a few more years left in it, if that and he wants to win a championship. One reason Allen remains unsigned is money. The veteran told the media that most teams are only willing to give him the minimum and he feels he is worth more than that. However, waiting to sign on mid-season will not get him much more than what was previously offered.

There are several teams still in contention to take Allen. The Cleveland Cavaliers have been pursing him for much of the offseason. They have a free roster spot, but the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported they are not saving it for Allen. However, if the veteran is interested, the Cavaliers will gladly make room. The Houston Rockets and Miami Heat have also been interested in bringing on Allen if he has the desire to play.
