The Cleveland Cavaliers are struggling to start the season. More importantly, LeBron James is struggling to start the season. The Cavaliers have only played a handful of games where their newly revamped roster is all on the court and chemistry has yet to really develop for the unit. That was very clear in the team's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers when James was held scoreless in the second half of the game. Can the team turn things around against the Utah Jazz?
James has been inconsistent to start the year. He put up 17 points with eight turnovers against the Knicks in their season opener. He followed that up with 36 points against Chicago, but had his worst performance in Portland, going just 4 of 12 with 11 points total. It was his lowest total since 2008. The veteran cannot shoulder all of the blame. Kyrie Irving struggled along with the team's bench who continues to average just 19 points. However, it is James that takes the spotlight and the forward is preaching patience to the fans.
"We have to understand what it takes to win. It's going to be a long process," James said, via ESPN.com. "There's been a lot of losing basketball around here for a few years. It's like building a car from scratch. I've done that before. I hated the process, it got on my nerves. I sent it back to get repainted 100 times. But once it was completely finished I was excited about it."
If there is a team to bounce back against it is the Jazz. The team is 1-3 on the season and allowing opponents to average110.3 points against them. The Cavaliers have a three-game win streak against the Western Conference team, putting up 105.3 points per game in those wins. James himself is averaging 29.6 points in 21 games against the team. Kevin Love has a few triple-doubles against the team while Irving had his only triple-double against the Jazz back in February.
