Oct 29, 2014 10:03 PM EDT

The LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns are playing live on the NBA schedule on Wednesday night and the game from the US Airways Center at 10 pm ET as Los Angeles plays back to back games after opening the year against the Houston Rockets and now Kobe Bryant will take on Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic in a Pacific division matchup.

The Lakers opened the season with a loss against the Rockets and that matchup saw Kobe Bryant score 19 points to lead LA, while Jeremy Lin had six assists. The Lakers will head back home to host the Clippers and they are looking to avoid an 0-2 start, while the Suns come in after a surprising season last year. Phoenix finished ninth in the west last season after winning 48 games and they could once again be one of the surprise teams out west.

The Suns have as much offensive talent as anyone in the league, including players like Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas. Phoenix comes into the season after going 48-34 last season and they will next play the Spurs on Friday night for their second game. The Lakers already have suffered a major loss this year, as Julius Randle fractured his leg in the opener and now he will be out for quite some time.

Bledsoe comes in after signing a major deal in the offseason and he joins Thomas in the backcourt with Dragic and that gives the Suns an energetic offense. Dragic had his best season last year with 20 points per game and over nine assists and he was named the most improved player. The Lakers are not looked at as a team that can compete this season and they likely will miss the playoffs again after winning just 27 games last season.
