The LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders are playing live on the MLS schedule on Sunday night and this is a huge matchup for Los Angeles at home in Carson at the StubHub Center, as the game at 8:30 pm ET on ESPN2 for the Major League Soccer game of the Week and it will be streaming live on WatchESPN as Landon Donovan and the Sounders battle for the Supporters Shield.
The two teams come into the game as the top clubs in the standings with 60 points in the western conference and a win here would give the Sounders the Shield for the first time. The Galaxy and the Sounders each lost last week and now they will be looking to bounce back after LA lost to Dallas to snap a 10 game undefeated streak and that was what put the team into this position. The Sounders lost to their geo rivals in the Whitecaps at home last week for the Cascadia Cup and now they are looking for the Shield.
This is the second time that the teams are playing this season and this is the first for a home and home for the Shield and this comes after the Galaxy won in Seattle earlier in the season. Donovan was excellent in that game, adding two assists with a goal and now he will be one of the top players to watch in this matchup along with Clint Dempsey. Last year around this time the teams played to a draw and that came after the teams met in 2012 in the western conference championship in the playoffs.
