Washington Redskins Rumors: Jordan Reed Returns As Niles Paul Fantasy Start Option With Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson For Kirk Cousins

Oct 10, 2014 10:45 AM EDT

The Washington Redskins will be getting Jordan Reed back from injury soon and for now Niles Paul is the better TE fantasy football start option for Kirk Cousins along with players like Alfred Morris, Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson as the team weathers the injury to Robert Griffin III heading into Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Redskins have not been playing well and while they did not get blown out by the Seahawks, the team still lost and now fantasy owners are hoping Jordan Reed can return soon. DeSean Jackson is also a bit banged up and he is a player to keep an eye on moving forward for Kirk Cousins until Robert Griffin III can return. Reed looks like he is on his way back, as he has been dealing with a hamstring injury and while he was limited in practice, it appears he will play on Sunday.

Fantasy owners should be cautious, as Reed has only played in one game this season and with Paul playing well in his absence, it could be worth starting him one more week. The Cardinals have been giving up points to the TE position, so Reed and Paul both could be solid options on Sunday. Reed is an athletic tight end that can be a playmaker for the Redskins, but he has had issues staying on the field and has just one catch for four yards this season. Reed and Paul could be a very good combination of both can stay healthy and that will be big for the Redskins if they want to turn this season around with Kirk Cousins.

Jackson has been ailing for weeks and he has continued to play and fantasy owners should continue starting him. Last week Jackson was dealing with a shoulder issue and he still ended up with 157 yards in the game against the Seahawks. The Redskins now may play the Cardinals with Patrick Peterson injured and that could be huge for Jackson, who now has two 100 yard games this season. Jackson also had 11 targets in the game and that shows that he still is a major part of the offense. This season Jackson has 20 catches for 364 yards and two scores and he could be in line for a big game this weekend.

Garcon did not make much of an impact last week against the Seahawks and he will be looking to rebound this week. Garcon has lost out on some targets with Jackson there, but Cousins should be able to move the ball against the Cardinals this week. Garcon had a huge season last year and he currently has 26 catches for 278 yards through five games. Cousins had two touchdowns and no picks against the Seahawks and passed for nearly 300 yards and he looked much better than he did against the Giants.

Alfred Morris had a quiet game with 29 yards, but he has been excellent this season and already has nearly 350 yards and three touchdowns. Morris should have a tough day against the Cardinals, but he also could have a breakout game if the Redskins can use the passing game and the absence of Patrick Peterson to their advantage.
