The media might have doubted him, but Brian Hoyer never lost faith in his talents. The quarterback has been a bit of a journeyman in the NFL before finally landing a starting job with the Cleveland Browns. The move was not without controversy as the team drafted Johnny Manziel. The fans wanted Manziel while the coaches had confidence in Hoyer. So far things have worked out for the veteran quarterback and it could result in a nice pay raise for Hoyer.

According to Hoyer, he is proving to Cleveland that he can really be a starting quarterback. After spending time learning under Tom Brady, Hoyer came into the Browns and hoped to start at some point. The quarterback suffered a torn ACL last year putting his future in doubt, but he came back and has the Browns at least looking competitive. However, he still cannot escape the drama surrounding himself and Manziel as most people think it is just a matter of time before the rookie takes over.

"From the outside, people probably don't think we like each other much, but we have a great quarterback room," Hoyer said, via FOX Sports. "Are we best friends? No. But there's 53 guys in there, you're not going to have 53 best friends. Johnny is a very polarizing figure and he brings a lot of fans with him, whether they're Cleveland fans or national fans. But I think being from here and having the success I did, I think I showed the people of Cleveland that I was more than capable of being their quarterback."

Hoyer will get another chance to prove himself as the Browns prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6. Hoyer has done well with the weapons he has been given considering the Browns lack a true No. 1 wide receiver. Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel have picked up it up in order to help out the quarterback and the running back has been better than most expected and it continues to improve as Ben Tate returns from injury.

Tate made a huge impact on Sunday in the win over the Tennessee Titans. The running back had 124 yards on the ground to lead the team. However, behind him might be two even better running backs. While Tate was injured, Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West handled the ground and created one of the top tandems in the league. The future is bright for the Browns and Hoyer. In need of a new contract this offseason, Hoyer might have just earned himself a pay raise.
