The MLB standings heading into the end of September has the playoff races in the AL and NL taking shape and in the wild card, it looks like the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals will make it in the American League, while the Giants and Pirates are leading in the National League.

The Baltimore Orioles have clinched home field advantage in the ALDS over the Tigers or the Royals and they are the winners of the AL West this season. The Central is still up for grabs and the Tigers are leading the Royals, while the Angels cleaned up the AL West a while ago over the Athletics after their major slump.

The American League wild card has the Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals, while the Seattle Mariners have just imploded, falling three games out. The National League has things sealed up with the Pirates and the Giants, as Pittsburgh already clinched and San Francisco is 5.5 games up on the Brewers.
