The Atlanta Braves are doing everything they can to keep pace in the incredibly tight National League wild card race and putting ace Julio Teheran on the mound will certainly help. The Braves are currently just two games back from the San Francisco Giants and the pitcher's success against the Philadelphia Phillies speaks in Atlanta's favor.

Teheran is aiming to get his fourth consecutive win while going 12 of 17 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Teheran is 13-9 with a 2.90 ERA on the season and part of a pitching rotation that has hit a late-season surge. The Braves pitchers have put together a 2.07 ERA in the past 16 games. Alex Wood got the start in the win over the Miami Marlins after striking out 12 in eight innings.

Teheran currently has the longest Braves win streak, going 3-0 with a 1.47 ERA in his past three starts .In his last start against the New York Mets, he gave up just one solo home run, two singles and two walks in over six innings. The pitcher is currently 5-2 with a 1.95 ERA while pitching at home in Turner Field. Against Philadelphia, he is 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA this season, giving up just two runs.

The Phillies will counter with Cole Hamels who has figured out the Atlanta batters better than anyone. He is 3-0 with a 1.16 ERA in his past four starts against the team. Hamels is pitching well since being bombarded with trade rumors. He is 5-1 with a 2.07 ERA in his last 10 starts, recently pitching six scoreless innings against the Washington Nationals before giving up two runs in the seventh.

Philadelphia recently dropped two of three to the New York Mets after winning seven of their last nine games. The Braves have won six of their last seven against Philadelphia while taking two of three in their last matchup at Turner Field.
