All it took was 13 seconds for the Auburn Tigers to lose in the National Championship game last year. They broke the SEC's national championship title run when they fell to Florida State at the arm of Jameis Winston. After getting back-to-back last second wins to Georgia and Alabama, they won the SEC championship game before losing the title. Now they return to start their 2014 season off with a conference opponent in the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Tigers snuck up on people last year. Quarterback Nick Marshall and running back Tre Mason were the stars of the season. They stunned Teas A&M by coming back from being down 10 points in the fourth quarterback. They got shocking wins against Georgia and Alabama on plays that made every highlight reel of the season. However, this team will not be able to do the same.
Marshall is back at quarterback, but will be suspended for a portion of the season's opener due to an arrest for marijuana possession. Mason is gone, but leading wide receiver Sammie Coates is back. They will replace first-round draft pick Greg Robinson with Shon Coleman. Dee Ford is also gone from the tea, but Cassanova McKinzy is back in action.
Jeremy Johnson will start at quarterbck. He went 29-41 in passing for 422 yards while also rushing for 47 while filling in for an injured Marshal during last season. Arkansas knows they must be prepared for anything with Auburn. The Razorbacks turned the ball over three times in their game against the Tigers last year, losing 35-17 while going 3-9 overall.
Brandon Allen will start at quarterback after sitting out with a shoulder injury last season. The result was Arkansas having the worst passing attack of the SEC last season. The team also has a talented running back trio of Jonathan Williams, Alex Collins and Korliss Marshall back for the team.
