St. Louis Rams Rumors: Jeff Fisher Denies Sam Bradford Trade Talk, Christian Ponder, Mark Sanchez, Kirk Cousins Not Targets as Shaun Hill, Garrett Gilbert Battle

Jeff Fisher is not interested in speculation regarding the St. Louis Rams' quarterback situation. The team is currently creating an offensive backup plan after Sam Bradford was lost for the season after he re-injured his surgically repaired ACL. St. Louis attempted this last season and the result was the No. 2 overall draft pick. How will they mend the situation? Not by a trade according to Fisher.

When it was announced that Bradford would miss the whole season, all eyes immediately shifted to several backup quarterbacks in the league. There are numerous backup quarterbacks in the league with starting experience and working on expiring contracts that would be an ideal fit for the Rams, but Fisher is not interested, opting to put his faith in the team's depth, Shaun Hill.

"You know what I like is, 'According to sources close to the situation, we're da da dad a da,'" Fisher said, via Pro Football Talk. "I love that, OK. So no, we have not had any conversations with anybody. It's the old source deal, you can just throw that out there. There's a lot of players out there that are under contract so you can't discuss those things. But we've not had any discussions with anybody. Again, we're going to be patient with this. There's probably a couple quarterbacks let go at 75. There will probably be some let go at the 53 and, like I said, there may be somebody, a club, we may have a trade partner out there. We don't know. But we're not initiating anything right now."

Fisher is stressing that the Rams are very confident in Hill carrying the team for the season. The veteran spent the last four seasons backing up Matthew Stafford, but has not started a game since 2010. Behind him is rookie Garrett Gilbert who was drafted this past April. Austin Davis rounds out the roster as second-year pro who came onto the team as an undrafted free agent.

The Rams have been linked to multiple quarterback trades in the past 48 hours. Players like Christian Ponder, Mark Sanchez and Kirk Cousins are all said to be available for the right price and could be better options than Hill. The Rams have offensive weapons that can be taken advantage of if the right quarterback is in place. Fisher remains confident that Hill is that player.
