The Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers are playing live on the MLS schedule on Sunday and the game is live from Providence Park and will be on TV from ESPN2 and online from the WatchESPN website as the two west rivals face off for the Pacific Northwest rivalry and this is a big one as both are pushing in the second half of the season towards the playoffs.
The Sounders have gotten back into the top of the west after falling behind Real Salt Lake and they have been leading for most of the season. The team last played against the San Jose Earthquakes and ended up in a 1-1 draw to get back into the top spot and they would love to keep things going. The Timbers have played well this season and have been in and out of playoff position on the league table, as they are now in the sixth spot and trying to claw back into things.
The Timbers played against New England and ended up with a draw and these two teams have played 10 times all time and the Timbers have two ins in the series. This is the third time that the teams are facing off and in the last game Clint Dempsey scored a goal in the second half and that came after another goal and gave the team a huge boost as they tied up at 4-4 on the season.
The Sounders have Dempsey and DeAndre Yedlin, who just signed with Tottenham and they have a deep team. The team is in first place in the west along with the FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake and those teams are at the top over the LA Galaxy and Vancouver Whitecaps, while the Timbers are also in the mix.
