The NBA is very particular about their tampering rules and that is why the Toronto Raptors were fined $25,000 for comments that Drake made at a concert in which Kevin Durant was in attendance, as the rapper, who is also a "global ambassador" for the franchise, referenced the impending free agency of the star and how great it would be if he played in the city of Toronto.

According to ESPN.com, the NBA felt the comments were in violation of their tampering rules and that is why the fine was assessed to the franchise. The report says that Drake made a comment at a show Durant was at, speaking to the crowd and referring to what "would happen if he came to play in Toronto" and those were deemed in violation of the rules. Durant is coming off of an MVP season and he is set to be a free agent in 2016 and there are a number of teams that are expected to go after him.

The Washington Wizards are considered a strong possibility since Durant is from Wahsington DC, while the New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers are all looking to target Durant. Last season Durant had a fantastic year and he will be an unrestricted free agent in a couple years and he is the headlining player of the 2016 free agent class. Durant recently dropped from Team USA basketball this summer to focus on getting his head and body right for the season and he also likely is gearing up for what possibly could be his final two years in Oklahoma City.

The Toronto Raptors are looking at next season as a big stepping stone, as they are coming off of a 48 win season, which was the best in franchise history. The team won their first division title last season and they also signed back free agent Kyle Lowry on a contract.
