Aug 07, 2014 07:50 PM EDT

The Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs are playing in Week 1 of the NFL preseason and the game is live from Arrowhead Stadium and starts up past 8 pm ET and comes as Andy Dalton has a brand new contract and both of these teams come into the 2014 season with high expectations.

The Bengals and Chiefs both made the playoffs last season, but they lost in their opening games and now there will be even more pressure to keep things going. The Bengals have been to the playoffs in three straight seasons, but they haven't won any of those games and now the pressure is on Andy Dalton and Marvin Lewis even more after the quarterback got a new six year contract amid speculation about his status heading into the season.

The Bengals felt that giving Dalton a contract before the season was a good move and it is the opposite of the Ravens and Joe Flacco, as they paid their QB after winning the Super Bowl. Dalton has been hit as a mediocre quarterback and one that can't win in the playoffs, but the Bengals believe in him and the deal is basically for three years even though it's a six year contract.

The Bengals are one of the only teams in the league to make it to the playoffs in three straight seasons and now fans there are wondering when they will win. Marvin Lewis has been a great coach, but he is winless in the playoffs in his career and they are getting to a Tom Coughlin Eli Manning moment, as the Giants had some issues going into the playoffs back in 2007, as they had not won a playoff game with that duo and of course we know how that turned out. Dalton has skills, but he also has AJ Green and many have wondered how good he actually is and now everyone may find out.

The Chiefs went from worst in the league to nearly a division winner and they would have been had they not been in a division with the Broncos. The team went 11-5 last year and was very impressive under Andy Reid and now the team is looking to do it again with Alex Smith under center and they have one of the best backs in the league in Jamaal Charles. Last season Charles had over 1200 yards rushing and had a team leading 70 catches for nearly 700 yards and he was one of the most impressive players in the league and it looking to do it again.

The Chiefs open the season with the titans on the regular schedule and they start in the preseason with the Bengals at home at Arrowhead. The team plays against the Panthers, Vikings and Packers this preseason and they have a tough schedule to start, with the Titans coming ahead of the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins on the road and then the team faces the New England Patriots at home for Monday night football and then on the road against the San Francisco 49ers.
