The Atlanta Braves are slowly losing pace in the National League East standings. The losers of seven straight games, the team is in need of a serious bounce back if they plan on making the playoffs. The Braves rank second, three games behind the Washington Nationals. Prior to their recent road trip, they were only a half-game back. However, during this losing streak, the team is batting .229 with just 15 runs in seven games. They will try to put things together in their second game against the Seattle Mariners.

After being dominated by Felix Hernandez, the Braves will start their ace, Julio Teheran, in hopes of splitting the series and breaking the losing streak. Teheran is 10-7 with a 2.69 ERA while leading the team in ERA, strikeouts and WHIP. He recently gave up just two runs over eight innings while striking out nine against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but lost the dual against Clayton Kershaw. The Braves are not exactly helping with their lack of run support.

Jason Heyward is trying to lead the offense. He had two hits on Tuesday after missing four games with a strained back. He is 7 for 13 with two doubles and triple since then while hitting .406 in his last 19 games. That is the ebst of the Braves right now. He is 5 for 13 in three games against Seattle while Atlanta has lost all of them.

The Mariners will start Chris Young who is 9-6 with a 3.19 ERA on the year. He is hoping to reach 10 wins for the first time since 2006 when he played for San Diego. Injuries have hurt his consistency over the years, but he has done well in the Seattle rotation. In his last start, he gave up four runs over five innings to get the win against Cleveland. He does play well at home going 6-3 with a 2.21 ERA in 11 starts at Safeco while opponents bat just .179.
