Kevin Love Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers Signing Andrew Wiggins To Force Deal As Warriors Afraid Of Trading Klay Thompson?

The Kevin Love trade rumors have slowed a bit after the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors were talking last week about a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves involving Andrew Wiggins, David Lee and Harrison Barnes and as things stretch out, the Cavs are reportedly looking to sign their first overall pick and that would mean Wiggins could not get traded for at least a month.

The Cavaliers could be putting out the news about working to sign Wiggins to try and get the deal moving along quicker, but it also could be the team just looking to take care of their business. According to ESPN.com, the Cavaliers have changed their tune and said that they are willing to trade Wiggins after previously holding him out of the deal, but if he signs with the Cavaliers it means that the team cannot trade him for 30 days.

The report from ESPN.com says that the delay in signing Wiggins has nothing to do with the trade with Kevin Love and that deal still could go down eventually even if he is signed. Love has been a main target for the Cavaliers and reports say that LeBron James wants to play with Love in Cleveland after signing back with the team and the possibility of having James, Love and Kyrie Irving as a main three is very intriguing for all sides. Wiggins was the number one overall pick out of Kansas and he has high expectations as a pro player and now he could be traded.

The big debate about trading Love for Wiggins has been going around in NBA circles for some time and after initially keeping him out of talks, the Cavaliers have said they are willing to trade Wiggins. The team originally offered Dion Waiters, Anthony Bennett and a first round pick for Love and Kevin Martin, but the Wolves wanted Wiggins in the deal. As things stand right now, the Cavaliers are willing to trade Wiggins, but so far terms about a new package has not been agreed on.

The Cavaliers are battling with the Golden State Warriors for Love and as of right now they are not willing to trade Klay Thompson in the deal. The Warriors have offered David Lee and Harrison Barnes in a deal for Love and that has not been enough for the Wolves, as they are trying to get the most they can for their franchise star. Thompson is a potential star in the making and the Warriors are reluctant to give him up talent-wise and reports say the team is also concerned about defense.

While Lee and Love are a bit of a wash defensively, the Warriors are actually more worried about losing Thompson in the backcourt with Steph Curry. Either way. Love is likely getting traded at some point and if it's not this summer it probably will be next year at the trade deadline, as he is expected to opt out of his contract next summer.
