Phoenix Suns point guard Goran Dragic and forward P.J. Tucker (on ground) celebrate with teammates Archie Goodwin, Ish Smith and Gerald Green (14) after being fouled in the fourth quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder at US Airways Center. The Suns defeated the Thunder 122-115. "

The Phoenix Suns made a splash in free agency by signing Isaiah Thomas from the Kings and now the team has a glut of guards and that could mean a trade with players like Archie Goodwin or Gerald Green as the summer moves along, as there are a number of teams that are looking for point guards and the Suns have an excess on their roster and this comes after Ish Smith was waived.

According to ESPN.com, the Indiana Pacers "dreams" of a trade with point guard Goran Dragic to upgrade from George Hill, as they feel he can elevate the team after the way he played last season. The Suns are still interested in keeping restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe and he looks like he will be returning, while the signing of Thomas also makes Dragic expendable if the team wants to trade him. The Suns also have Archie Goodwin and Ish Smith along with Tyler Ennis, who was taken in the first round of the draft and he could be another combination that the team uses along with Thomas and Bledsoe.

The Suns acquired Thomas on a sign and trade deal with the Kings and now he joins Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, Tyler Ennis as well as Smith and that is one reason why the team could look at dealing. GM Ryan McDonagh has done a good job at amassing talent, cap space and first round picks in the future and he could leverage this situation to do it again. The Suns also have the option of waiting until the trade deadline during the season to make a move, as some teams could be in more desperate situations come February than they are now with no games being played. The Suns signed Thomas to a four-year, $27 million deal and with the cap space they have, they still can sign Bledsoe and not get hamstrung.

The Suns have been an active team in free agency this year, signing Thomas to a deal and they also brought back PJ Tucker on a three year deal. Thomas is getting a lot of the attention for Phoenix and that is well deserved after the season he had, but adding Tucker is an important move as well. The Suns were one of the most surprising teams in basketball last season and if they can retain Bledsoe, they should be a playoff contender this year. Last season the team nearly made it in and now they should be even better despite losing Channing Frye.

The team has Marcus Morris and Markieff Morris along with Miles Plumlee and they have added Thomas to the mix with Dragic, Archie Goodwin, Tyler Ennis, Bledsoe and now Tucker as well. If the team hangs onto everyone and doesn't pull off a trade, they will have a great young squad with plenty of future potential and that could make them a tough team to beat night in and night out in the west. Alex Len is out for the summer and he could get in shape once the season starts and now Phoenix will try and improve on their 48 win season out west and adding Thomas could be the most underrated move of the offseason.
