Jul 13, 2014 07:50 PM EDT

The NY Yankees and Baltimore Orioles are playing live on the ESPN baseball schedule on Sunday night and the game is from Oriole Park at Camden Yards and the matchup has Chase Whitley against Kevin Gausman and starts at 8:00 pm ET on WatchESPN and this is the first start that Masahiro Tanaka will miss after he was placed on the DL.

The Yankees are coming into the game after a win and now they have Whitley on the mound and he had a rough go of it recently and now he will be relied upon while Tanaka is out. The Yankees are now one game over .500 heading into this and they would like to stay above into the All-Star break with a win in the AL East. Shane Greene has stepped into the fold for the team as well and he pitched on Saturday and got the victory in the 3-0 win, while Derek Jeter, Jacoby Ellsbury and Mark Teixeira got the runs in for the Yankees in the very important win.

The team is in wild card and division contention heading into the All-Star break and they could love to do it with a win. Baltimore has been the leaders in the AL East and their lead over the Yankees is down to four games and the team is looking to keep the bats hot against the Orioles. The Yankees are chasing the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays in the division and so far the Boston Red Sox have struggled

The Yankees have not been hitting the ball well most of the season, but they are starting to heat up a little bit and have moved up and are now 18th in runs scored in the league. The team is 16th in batting average and their pitching will somehow have to hold together for the team to get into the playoffs. Derek Jeter is in his last season and is hanging on and the pitching has been devastated by injuries. Tanaka is out for at least six weeks and could need Tommy John surgery, while CC Sabathia and Michael Pineda are also on the mend.
