Ecuador and Honduras are playing live on the World Cup schedule on Friday and the Group E match comes live on ESPN and WatchESPN from Arena da Baixada in Curitiba and the game could be an elimination knockout, as both teams lost their first games to France and Switzerland and this matchup starts at 6 pm ET from Brazil.
The game between the two sides could be for that second spot, as France is playing very well and won over Switzerland and now they are in position to win the group. France could be one of the new favorites in the tournament along with Germany and Brazil and Karim Benzema has been key and he is one of the leaders in the tournament. Benzema scored two goals and nearly had a third in the game against Honduras and the Swiss side needs to rebound in the matchup of those teams.
Switzerland is a seeded team coming in and now France has the clear path as the winner of the group and they should be strong. France can get in tonight if Ecuador loses and that would be a big move after what happened in the 2010 Cup. Wilson Palacios will be out for Honduras after a red card in the last match and Ecuador blew their game when they had a draw in hand and a point, allowing a goal from the Swiss and now they need some massive help to make it to the knockout stages. Jefferson Montero and Antonio Valencia will be key for Ecuador and those two can be explosive and Honduras will have to find a way to keep them at bay.
Honduras has the chance to get a win here and they need points badly and if they can win this game, the matchup against Switzerland will be even more intense. France is running away with this group and they are now looking very good heading into the game and they will be one to watch, as players like Karim Benzema and Olivier Giroud gives them a good chance to keep going. After the mutiny that was 2010, this team is looking much better and now they have the scoring touch behind them as well for this and after scoring five in the second game they led by far in goal differential in the group.
Some other teams that have established themselves include Costa Rica and the United States, as CR ended up winning over Italy. The Us won over Ghana and now they matchup with Portugal and have a very tough matchup against Ronaldo and if they can win, they likely will be through after no one gave them credit for being in the group of death and no one thought they would make it through.
