NFL Top 100 of 2012: Aaron Rodgers Grabs Top Spot, Brees, Johnson and Brady Follow

Calvin Johnson
Calvin Johnson finished 3rd on the NFL's Top 100 Players of 2012."

Darrelle Revis beat out Demarcus Ware, Haloti Ngata, and Patrick Willis to claim the top defensive spot on the NFL Network's Top 100.  Revis finished 5th, Ware finished 6th, Ngata 9th, Willis 10th.

Tom Brady, a top spot candidate, fell three spots shy of the first spot and finished one behind "Megatron" Calvin Johnson, who finished 3rd.

Brady led the New England Patriots to his 5th AFC Championship in 2011 but fell short in the Super Bowl. Calvin Johnson, who jumped up 24 spots from his 2011 rank, played his way on to the EA Sports Madden '13 cover this past season.  Johnson's quarterback, Matthew Stafford finished 41st.

The top spot would go to Aaron Rodgers who led his Packers (and their dreadful defensive backfield) to a 15-1 regular season record.  Along with an excellent receiving corps, Rodgers would net Green Bay 4643 yards passing.  The Packers exited the playoffs in the divisional round.

Behind Rodgers sits Drew Brees at 2nd.  Brees led all NFL passers in 2011 with 5476 yards.

Brees is currently awaiting the results from Wednesday's arbitration hearing regarding the Saints theoretical financial obligation should they franchise tag him after this season.

Check back tomorrow for a reaction to SWR's reaction to the top 10.
