WWE Raw Money In The Bank : John Cena Officially Enters in Match

Jun 26, 2012 10:14 AM EDT

As expected, John Cena announced his entry into his first ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Cena's announcement coincided with Chris Jericho's return, which lead to a match between the two later in the evening.

During Cena's announcement, it was also revealed by Vickie Guerrero that unlike in past years, entry into the WWE Title MITB will require a previous WWE title reign.   At this time, it does not appear that the World Title MITB will require  previous reign and will thus, likely be used to elevate mid-card performers.

Right now, it appears that the WWE match will be smaller than typical MITBs as only Cena, Jericho, Big Show, and Kane are booked for the event.

After Kane was the first participant eliminated from a triple threat elimination match against CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, he was logically written out of the upcoming rematch for Punk's WWE Title. Punk will face Bryan again at MITB.

Also on last night's Raw, a triple threat match between Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and Dolph Ziggler was announced for Smackdown.  The match will be for the World Heavyweight Title.  As major titles rarely change hands on free television, this is likely a vehicle for WWE to create a storyline with for MITB.

Rey Mysterio is eligible to return but did not make an appearance last night.  Since he is technically a former WWE Champion, he could be rule eligible for the WWE Title MITB match.
