Jurgen Klinsmann, head coach of the U.S. men's national soccer team has Tim Howard, DaMarcus Beasley, Brad Davis, Cody Cropper, Landon Donovan, Mix Diskerud and Terrence Boyd prepare with drills as the team works out and gets ready during the World Cup training camp at Stanford University in Stanford, California May 14, 2014 before the match against Azerbaijan in the international World Cup friendly on Tuesday night."

The United States men's national soccer team and Azerbaijan are playing on the World Cup international friendly schedule on Tuesday from Candlestick Park and the matchup for the US team is in the USA and comes live on ESPN2 at 10 pm ET and streaming from the WatchESPN website after Landon Donovan was left off the squad from Jurgen Klinsmann and this is one of three matches before the Brazil 2014 tournament starts.

Klinsmann made his cuts last week and Donovan was the most glaring and while he is getting older, Donovan is the most decorated and experienced World Cup player for the US and now he will be out of things just weeks before the tournament. Some drama between Klinsmann and the star has been hinted at for some time, but Klinsmann downplayed that and said it was just about soccer and about how players on the team were ahead of Donovan and that he was looking to put together the best squad for the US heading into Brazil.

The team has the toughest tournament schedule of anyone, as they are in the Group of death in Group G and on top of that have the longest travel itinerary of any national team in Brazil. The team now has to face Klinsmann's old club in the German national team along with Portugal with Cristiano Ronaldo and Ghana, who eliminated the US in the last two World Cup tournaments. It will be a miracle for the team to get out of the group stage and Klinsmann said his decisions were very tough and that they were made in the best interests of the team.

The US is playing against Azerbaijan in their first friendly since the cuts and since they started training at Stanford and with just a few weeks left until the tournament, Klinsmann is looking for his team to get into their best form. Berti Vogts is the coach for Azerbaijan and he is playing a big part for Klinsmann, as he is coming on as an adviser after the match heading into the World Cup. Klinsmann wants him in since Azerbaijan has played against all three of the opponents for the US in the tournament and they did not qualify.

Azerbaijan is ranked 85th and while that isn't very high, the team has played against some high level competition and they have shown that they can play very physical, which is something that Klinsmann wants from his team. Jozy Altidore is the goal scoring leader for the US and he comes in after an exciting season at Sunderland and he is on the team up front along with stars Clint Dempsey and Chris Wondolowski. The offense shouldn't be a problem for the US and even without Donovan the team has stars in Tim Howard, Dempsey and DaMarcus Beasley. The US next plays friendly matches against Turkey and Nigeria in the coming weeks before the World Cup begins.
