The NBA Draft Lottery for 2014 is live on Tuesday and the coverage from ESPN comes before the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers playoff game and starts at 8 pm ET with a live stream on the WatchESPN website as teams like the Boston Celtics, Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz go for the number one overall pick and the right to draft Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle, Jabari Parker and Joel Embiid.
The draft is not until June 26 and this outcome could be very big for the offseason, as a number of teams and names have already started to float around, including Rajon Rondo, Kevin Love, the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and Chicago Bulls. The Bucks come in with the best chance at winning the lottery and that hasn't happened in a few years and they have a 25 percent chance at getting the top pick, while the Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic are the next two on the list.
The first three picks in the draft will be determined on Tuesday and then the other teams from picks four to 14 will go down by worst record. The Jazz are fourth ahead of the Boston Celtics, who have a 10 percent chance, while the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons are next on the list. The Cleveland Cavaliers had the number one pick last season and took Anthony Bennett and they come in ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans and the Denver Nuggets, who have the pick from the Carmelo Anthony trade with the Knicks. The Magic are next with a Nuggets pick, while the Timberwolves and Suns are 13th and 14th. The Grizzlies are making a major shakeup heading into the offseason with Jason Levien and assistant general manager Stu Lash out and now there could be another head coach opening along with the Lakers and the Knicks.
Wiggins and Parker came into the season as the presumptive number one and two picks and while they are both highly regarded, players like Embiid, Marcus Smart, Julius Randle and Aaron Gordon all could be in the mix as top picks. The Lakers and the Celtics are in the lottery just a few years removed from finals appearances and both of those teams are dying to get the lottery, although it's more likely going to one of the top three teams.
Some rumors have come up that teams could look to trade picks depending on what goes down in the lottery on Tuesday night and part of that could center around Kevin Love, who has said he plans on testing the market if the Timberwolves don't trade him. Whoever gets the number one pick will immediately start getting hit with speculation of whether Wiggins or Parker will go number one. Wiggins played one season at Kansas, while Parker led Duke in scoring and rebounding while playing one season for the Blue Devils.
