Miami Dolphins Rumors: Mike Wallace Trade Option As Marqise Lee, Jordan Matthews, Jarvis Landry, Cody Latimer Second Round Draft Targets After Ja'Wuan James?

The Miami Dolphins are coming into the second round with a number of needs and after taking Ja'Wuan James with their first round pick, players like Marqise Lee, Jordan Matthews, Jarvis Landry, Cody Latimer, Carlos Hyde and De'Anthony Thomas are some names that could be in the mix in the second and third rounds for GM Dennis Hickey and another option could be a trade with Mike Wallace for more picks or to move up in one of the round.

The Dolphins ranked 26th in the league in rushing last season and adding James will help the running attack, while Ryan Tannehill needs more weapons and that is why the receivers are in the mix. The team has Wallace and Brian Hartline and Tannehill needs to continue his development and Hickey should have a nice pick of WRs, as that is one of the deepest positions from this draft. Landry would be a great addition and so would Lee after he was considered to be a potential first round pick.

Here are some thoughts about the Dolphins from before the first round and let's see how things ended up for the team as round two starts. The Miami Dolphins are coming into the NFL draft this year looking for an impact player on offense and based on their current prospect visits, the rumors about the trade interest of Mike Wallace could be true, as the team is looking closely at Marqise Lee, Kelvin Benjamin, Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham as well as Donte Moncrief and Clemson's Martavis Bryant, who are visiting with the team.

The Dolphins already signed Knowshon Moreno as a free agent this offseason and while they have a solid core of receivers in Wallace, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, Rishard Matthews and Armon Binns, it looks like general manager Dennis Hickey is hoping to add more firepower to the offense. According to Pro Football Talk, the team could be looking to take a wideout in the draft because that talk of trading Mike Wallace from earlier in the season was true and that could be coming closer to, or after the draft.

The Dolphins like Wallace's skills and talent, but he did not perform last season like someone who signed a contract as big as he did and on top of that, Hickey was not the one to sign him to that deal, former GM Jeff Ireland was, so in a way he has no real loyalty to Wallace. The team scored just seven points over the last two games last season and that was while they were chasing a playoff spot and now they are looking to upgrade in a number of areas heading into next season. The team already added Moreno and signing Branden Albert to play left tackle should help the rushing attack too, as the team gave up 58 sacks last season and that was the most in the league.

Ryan Tannehill needs more time to develop and a better offensive line will help that and the Miami Herald writes that the interest in wide receivers is no accident and that it could mean Wallace's days are numbers in 2014 and if not, possibly in 2015. The team had Marqise Lee from USC visit according to ESPN.com and he is coming off of a solid season with 57 catches for 791 yards and four touchdowns after being a Heisman finalist, while names like Odell Beckham and Brandin Cooks are also in the mix, while Moncrief and Bryant are potential second round picks.

Mike Evans and Sammy Watkins will be off the board before the Dolphins pick, but Lee, Cooks and Kelvin Benjamin could be in the mix and he is a big target from FSU after catching 15 touchdowns last season. Beckham is moving up draft boards and he had 59 catches for 1152 yards and eight touchdowns and he could be picked ahead of his teammate Jarvis Landry in 2014 and Mel Kiper wrote in his mock draft that he could be a mid-first round pick and Miami comes in with the 19th pick in the draft this year and they have a second round pick at number 50.

The team could also be interested in taking a running back despite already signing Moreno, as they have second and third round picks in that mix. Keep an eye out for names like Carlos Hyde, Andre Williams and Tre Mason as options for the Dolphins.
