May 01, 2014 10:45 AM EDT

The NHL playoffs schedule has the first game of the second round, as the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens will start their series in the eastern conference postseason and the Game 1 matchup from TD Garden starts up at 7:30 pm ET and comes after the first round closed out with three Game 7 matchups on Wednesday and now the Penguins will play the Rangers on the other part of the bracket.

The Bruins and the Canadiens were the first two teams to advance into the second round, with Montreal coming first after they swept out the Lightning in their opening series. The Bruins advanced after five games, while the Penguins needed six to take care of the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Rangers finished things out in seven games against the Flyers with a win on Wednesday. The Rangers won after losing in Game 6 and now they remain undefeated in Game 7 matchups at Madison Square Garden and now the last 17 winners of Game 7's in the playoffs have scored first. The Rangers had two fantastic goals in the game and they were able to hold off a barrage of Flyers shots at the end to win things.

The Bruins come into their series after winning four games in a row and that came after the team was stunned by the Red Wings in the first game. The Bruins were the top team in the NHL this season and they were the first seed in the east and now they have advanced after winning 4-1 over the Red Wings in an Original Six matchup and now they have another one with Montreal. The first game of the series is on the NBC Sports Network and starts up at 7:30 pm ET and Game 2 will be on Saturday and that is the early game on NBA and it starts up at 12:30.

Montreal advanced after winning in a sweep at 4-0 over the Tampa Bay Lightning and now they have been off the ice for 10 days and that could be a factor in the series with the Bruins. Carey Price played very well for the Canadiens and they are the only team from Canada in the playoffs so they are holding the candle for the nation. The team beat up on the backup with Ben Bishop out and now they will deal with the Bruins.

The other games on schedule has the Rangers and Penguins starting their series on Friday, while the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks will be the second game on the schedule that night after NY starts at 7 pm, as their game is at 9:30 pm ET.
