Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love (42) is pressured by Miami Heat forward LeBron James (6) during the second half at American Airlines Arena. The Minnesota Timberwolves won in 2 overtimes 122-121. "

Kevin Love and his free agency have long been mentioned in rumors in the NBA and teams like the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls all have him as a potential target and while he can't opt out until after next season, he is entering Dwight Howard territory and could be on the move with a trade at some point with names like Omer Asik, Tyson Chandler, Carlos Boozer, Jeremy Lin and Amar'e Stoudemire if the Minnesota Timberwolves find a deal they like and that could create a huge shift in the NBA once again and could affect the future of a number of franchises.

Love is the most talked about player not named Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James and once he becomes a free agent, if he becomes a free agent, teams around the league will be bidding on him like crazy. That is one reason why teams are looking to pull off a trade for Love, as they are worried that they will not be able to get him once he hits the market. Many have speculated that Love will go to the Lakers due to his UCLA connections and that could be an option for him, but the team right now is a mess and they are in the lottery and could be a couple years away from making a move like that.

Some have speculated that the Lakers could try and pull off the trade ASAP, as Kobe Bryant is getting older, Dwight Howard left LA and he could be the next superstar to take over. The Timberwolves would love for Love to stay, but right now that is not looking likely and while he has said all the right things, Love is probably going to leave the Wolves eventually. Love has been a double-double machine and he averaged 26 points and 12 rebounds last season and he has averaged 19 and 12 for his career and he is the next superstar player waiting for a big deal and that is why many think he could be traded.

What happens with Anthony and James will have an effect on Love as well, especially if Anthony leaves for the Rockets, Lakers or Bulls, as signing him could change the plans of those franchises. Everyone wants love, but he can't be had now and with Anthony opting out of his deal this summer, he will be a free agent target. The Knicks are hoping to keep Anthony and they will try their best to do that and if they can't, it could actually open up NY a year down the line to get Love from the Wolves.

The Knicks had a terrible season in 2013 and now they are looking to start fresh with a new head coach and they have that and they also hope that will be enough to keep Anthony for now. Love has the same situation and Minnesota is looking to do the same and while that will be tougher for them to keep Love, they still have time to convince him. The Rockets have some moves they can make as well with Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik and doing that would open up cap space for them to sign another max player along with James Harden and Dwight Howard.
