Jets Draft Rumors: Sammy Watkins, Jadeveon Clowney Trade An Option With De'Anthony Thomas, Mike Evans Targets As John Idzik Has 12 Picks For Trading

The NY Jets are coming into the NFL draft with an arsenal of picks and John Idzik could trade up for the right to draft someone like Sammy Watkins, Jadeveon Clowney or Greg Robinson, while De'Anthony Thomas, Mike Evans and Marqise Lee are other options for the team since they have 12 picks for trading this year and that gives them more flexibility than past years.

While all 12 of those picks cannot be traded since some are compensatory, that still gives the team the chance to make moves and not get too hurt, as they will have other picks to make up for the ones they trade if they decide to go down that road. The team may avoid doing that after the move up for Mark Sanchez didn't work out as planned, but Idzik was not with the team when that happened and if he feels that he can get a top pick at value, he may move the team up. The Jets had the benefit of using two first round picks last season after the Darrelle Revis trade and now they are in position to make a big move, as Sammy Watkins or Jadeveon Clowney could be targets for the team if they drop from the top three or top five.

Both of those players are top prospects, but the draft is a crapshoot and something unexpected always happens and if those two start to slip, the Jets could move up to take one of them. The Jets have some cap space so adding players in the draft won't be an issue, but the reason getting all those picks can be risky is that the team may not be able to sign all the players they select and that is why some have speculated that the team could look to make a trade at some point, even if it's not moving all the way up to the top five or 10.

The Jets, according to ESPN.com, have high interest in Mike Evans despite the fact that they signed Eric Decker in the offseason, as they see him as the perfect complement in the offense. Evans has great size and speed and he could fit what they hoped DeSean Jackson could bring after they had some interest in him. Evans is coming into the NFL after making 69 catches last season for Texas A&M and he was very productive with Johnny Manziel, putting up over 1,300 yards and averaging 20 yards per catch and that is something that has the attention of scouts.

De'Anthony Thomas could be a very interesting pick as well, as the Jets have been looking at Chris Johnson to add to the run game and bringing in someone like Thomas could be very explosive. Thomas is also a kick returner and could be great on special teams and he has been great on long plays and out of the backfield catching the ball. The team added back Jeff Cumberland, but they also could go after names like Eric Ebron or Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who were two of the best tight ends in the nation last season and are looking like very solid prospects.
