The win streak continues for the San Antonio Spurs, but could be tested as the face the Western Conference's second-best team in the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Spurs have put together 19 wins as the streak nears a quarter of the season, they will put it on the line in a back-to-back game in Oklahoma.
Getting that 20th win will not be easy for the Spurs. San Antonio has dropped their last four games against the Thunder, including six trips to Oklahoma City, dating back to the postseason. If the Spurs were to win, they would five games ahead of Oklahoma City for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. If just six games remaining, it would nearly lock up home-court advantage for the team.
San Antonio is not having a hard time winning right now. They have defeated their last four opponents by an average of 23.5 points. They are fresh off a 111-90 win over the Golden State Warriors where Tim Duncan had 15 points while Tony Parker added another 18.
The Thunder are not exactly struggling either. After beating Utah on Sunday, the team has won six of their last seven games. They have not played since that win, so rest could be factor in this game. However, after the matchup against the Spurs the Thunder will have five games in seven days to finish out their season. The team has been careful with their three days off, making sure they do not enter the game against the Spurs rusty.
Kevin Durant has been the key to the recent streak of the Thunder. He is averaging 35.9 points in his last seven games while putting up an average of 36 points against the Spurs, including their win on Jan. 22. Prior to that game, the Spurs have been dominant over Durant, holding the guard to just 22.3 points in six games. Oklahoma City will also have a full roster as guard Reggie Jackson is expected to be back after missing two games and Russell Westbrook will be available after missing the last game against the Spurs.
