The St. Louis Rams have plenty of options with their No. 2 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Without the pressing need to draft a quarterback right away, the team will likely have their pick of any other player in any position they want. After addressing offensive needs in free agency, do the Rams look to defense with their first pick?

The Rams made a much needed move when they opted to sign former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt. With young talent at the receiving position, Britt will be the strong veteran presence that could help anchor the unit while giving Sam Bradford another target. Britt is reuniting with former coach Jeff Fisher to the tune of a one-year, $1.4 million deal. Considering Britt was essentially phased out of the Titans offense last year, that is a generous offer.

So with no need to draft Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans in the first round, who becomes the main target for the Rams? The Florida Union-Times is reporting the Rams are very interested in drafting Clowney with their No. 2 pick. The defensive star would be a huge upgrade to the St. Louis defense and will likely be penciled in as an immediate starter. However, while the Rams are highly considering grabbing Clowney, other teams are as well and are hoping the Rams are willing to move down in the draft with a trade.

The Union-Times continues their report saying both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Atlanta Falcons are looking to move up to grab Clowney. The Rams have other needs outside of Clowney. They need an offensive lineman and could grab Greg Robinson or Jake Matthews. They do not need the No. 2 pick for that so a trade down is not out of the question. However, passing up on Clowney might be too good to pass up.

The Jaguars draft at No. 3 and while the team is in need of a quarterback, they could desperately use Clowney as well. Most mock drafts have Jacksonville grabbing Blake Bortles, but if they can pull off a trade with the Rams, Clowney will be their guy. The Atlanta Falcons are thinking the same thing. They draft at No. 6 and the Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting they have already sent out feelers to the Rams about a possible switch.

The Rams will get more calls about a trade than the Texans will. Most assume Houston is grabbing a quarterback so any team interested in Clowney is ready to move up into position.
