Virginia comes into the game as ACC regular season champions, while Duke is ranked in the top 10 and they were one of the best teams in the conference this year as well. The Cavaliers are ranked sixth and along with this game, Michigan State and Michigan are playing in the Big Ten championship game, while Kentucky and Florida are playing in the SEC conference tournament finals and those will be automatic bids as well and the Gators, Spartans, Wildcats and Wolverines are all national title contenders this season.

Duke comes into the game after a win against NC State in the semifinals and the Wolfpack came in after an upset win against Syracuse and now the two teams in the ACC will face off for the tournament title. Duke was 13-5 in the conference this season, while the Cavs went 16-2 and both teams won over Syracuse, with Virginia clinching the conference title with their win a couple weeks ago. Duke got 20 points from leading scorer Jabari Parker and he has been excellent all season and he was tops in rebounds with eight and he has been leading the Blue Devils in that as well, while Quinn Cook was tops in assists and now they matchup against the team with the top defense in the nation, as the Cavaliers were ranked number one in the country in points allowed per game.

Duke comes into the game having won of their last six games played and they will have a tough day with Virginia and this gives them a chance at one of the top seeds in the NCAA tournament and this could be huge for the Blue Devils heading into the tourney. The team is scoring nearly 80 points per game and they are 27th overall in the nation and are shooting nearly 47 percent this season overall. Virginia had a lengthy winning streak this season in the ACC and won all their games after losing to Duke in January until March when they lost to Maryland and now they come in after wins against Florida State and Pittsburgh and they come in as the best defense in the nation with 55 points allowed per game.
