Pittsburgh and North Carolina are playing on ESPN2 for the ACC Conference Tournament quarterfinals live on Friday and the game is streaming online from the WatchESPN website and comes as the team is looking to advance to the next round and it starts up at 2 pm ET from the Greensboro Coliseum and has UNC as the favorites.
The ACC leaders are now coming into play on Friday in the quarterfinals after North Carolina, Syracuse, Virginia and Duke had byes into the round and now UNC has the chance to advance to the semis and they have had a very good season. The team comes in at number 15 in the nation and they were 13-5 in the conference this season and 23-8 overall and they lost their final game to Duke and now are looking to rebound in the conference tourney. The game saw the team beat by over 10 and now they must recover to keep things going and a nice showing here will give them a boost on selection Sunday.
Syracuse and Duke are considered the favorites for the conference tournament along with Virginia, as they were regular season champions and the best defensive team in the nation. The ACC was deep this season and UNC was a part of that and after some early season struggles, they rebounded very well and now have the chance to make a run in the ACC tournament. The team has a strong roster and it will be tough for Pitt to win against North Carolina, but they have played well in big games this season and Jamie Dixon knows how to coach his team up and this is the perfect chance for him to do that.
The team comes in ranked in the top 50 in scoring and they are averaging over 75 points per game and they are also in the top 10 in rebounds per game with nearly 40 per contest and that front line will be huge for the team on Friday. The team is ranked 21st in assists and they are shooting over 46 percent from the field and before losing to Duke the team had won over 10 games in a row in the conference and before that they only lost to Virginia, and they were the best team in the ACC. The team won at home against Duke and while they lost to Syracuse earlier in the season, they are playing much better now.
The Heels won over Norte Dame twice and they also defeated Pitt earlier in the year and now they have a second matchup with the team and that first game was when the Panthers were ranked. Pitt comes in after winning against Wake Forest and they have been very good on offense and they scored 84 and dominated that game and they are averaging 73 points per game this season and they also rank 13th in the nation in assists per game. The team is shooting over 46 percent and their defense has been great, as they are in the top 25 in points allowed per game this season.
