Richie Incognito is a free agent and the Miami Dolphins are not bringing him back and after the Jonathan Martin trade to the 49ers, Incognito could end up in a number of places, including possibly the Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders, New York Giants and Cleveland Browns.
Incognito will have to show teams that he is not going to be what he was in Miami and now that Martin is out of town, it's Incognito's turn to find a new city and team. The Giants ranked 28th in the league in total offense this season after being one of the best teams over the past couple years and the team ended up 19th in passing yards per game and 29th overall in rushing yards per game and outgoing coordinator Kevin Gilbride said the offensive line was partly to blame.
According to ESPN.com, Gilbride said that at times it was impossible for Manning to "function" in the offense and while he did not give his QB a pass on his 27 interceptions (many that were his fault), he also added that Manning did not have the chance to play his game this season and he could not function the way he did in past years due to the line struggles.
The team used more short drops rather than what Manning likes in his deeper ones and that contributed, as did injuries to Chris Snee, David Diehl and David Baas and later Will Beatty and on top of that, the team was breaking in a rookie in Justin Pugh. Beatty struggled before breaking his leg and he is signed to an extension from the offseason and now the team is getting a new coordinator after a decade and with that could come some new blood on the offensive line.
Here is a look back on some of the issues with Incognito: Many players, including Steelers safety Ryan Clark, has said that they would want a player like Incognito on their team. From a bit farther back, Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Richie Incognito has been the center of attention regarding the harassment and bullying accusations involving fellow lineman Jonathan Martin and while the incidents are being investigated, it may follow a pattern of behavior for Incognito, as he was seen on HBO's "Hard Knocks" in 2012 in a video pranking rookie tight end Michael Egnew and now Incognito is suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.
Reports from Deadspin, Twitter and the Miami Herald have some issues with the Dolphins as their rookies as not an isolated incident, as a report conveyed that the veterans on the team recently put a $30,000 check for dinner on the rookies. This is a common practice in the NFL among many teams and while it is seemingly harmless, clearly when looked through with the context of the Martin issues, it looks pretty bad. The video, which was posted in a story on Desdspin.com about the harassment incident with Incognito and Martin, shows the offensive lineman pranking one of his teammates and while he isn't openly hostile towards the rookie Egnew, there is a stark directness in the way he speaks to him. Almost like what he is saying doesn't really matter at all, that whatever he did to Egnew was not anything serious, even though he changed the password on his iPad, changed his status on Facebook and also made a derogatory comment about his fiance.
While Incognito looks at this like it's nothing, some other people could take it the wrong way and this is interesting to look at in the context of Martin, as Incognito says what he says to Egnew with a sense of rude accomplishment and that could eventually mean some trouble.
