Chicago Blackhawks Trade Rumors: David Legwand, Martin Brodeur, Matt Moulson, Mike Cammalleri, Thomas Vanek Options?

The Chicago Blackhawks are defending champions and at the NHL trade deadline, they could make some moves and names like David Legwand, Martin Brodeur, Matt Moulson, Mike Cammalleri, Dan Girardi, Thomas Vanek and Martin St. Louis have been mentioned as players that could get traded and the defending Stanley Cup champions could be in the running for some of them.

The Blackhawks have been one of the best teams in the NHL this season and they are second in their division behind the St. Louis Blues and are third overall in the western conference. The team is looking to win their third Cup in five seasons and making a move at the deadline could be the piece that gets them there. The team doesn't have too many needs since they are one of the best out west, but they could use to improve their goaltending depth behind Cory Crawford and names like Ryan Miller and Martin Brodeur will come up, although those deals are unlikely due to the players involved.

The team is looking to defend their title for the first time since the Red Wings did it and with players like Michal Handzus, Brandon Bollig, Peter Regin and Sheldon Brookbank about to hit free agency, Stan Bowman could use that to his advantage. The team made a move earlier in the offseason with Jimmy Hayes and Dylan Olsen to the Panthers for Kris Versteeg and minor-leaguer Phillippe Lefebvre and that could be in line with what the team does during the deadline. SI.com speculated about a possible trade for Brodeur and while he could be a fit there behind Crawford, it's likely that he remains with the Devils.

Thomas Vanek remains one of the most talked about names at the deadline and he comes in after being traded from the Sabres to the Islanders and now he could be moving again. The Islanders will not just give him away, as they already lost John Tavares at the Olympics, but Garth Snow will be looking for a deal and the Blackhawks could get it done. Legwand is an interesting option as well, as he is heading towards being a free agent and so far Nashville and the star have not been able to come to terms on a contract.

Legwand and Ryan Callahan are in a similar boat, as each are looking for contracts as they head towards free agency for their teams. Legwand is the top player on the Predators right now in points and he has 10 goals and 30 assists this season and if talks do not progress, he could get moved at the deadline as well. Amazingly, Legwand was the first draft pick for the team. Cammalleri has come up quite a bit as well as a name that could move and so has Moulson and those are moves the Blackhawks could also make.
