The Thursday night football schedule will pick up in the 2014 season on CBS and they will be airing NFL games starting next season and it will be on a one year deal and includes two Saturday night matchups along with the slate of games.

The NFL had put up some of their Thursday night games from the NFL Network up for grabs to the big stations and now CBS will be airing the games and they have eight games early in the season that will be on the TV network as well. The company also gets two late season Saturday night games and the second run of games will be on the NFL Network for the latter part of the season.

According to Variety, the NFL can renew the deal after one year and now the network will snag the Thursday night games. The next stage of NFL games coming up was expected to be a fierce battle between NBC and ESPN and now CBS has the games. The league was looking to boost the Thursday Night Football package and now more viewers will get to see the games than on the NFL Network, as only 70 million people have access to that channel, while over 100 million could watch on CBS. The games are set to be from Sept. 11 through Oct. 30. And CBS is planning on having more coverage throughout the week on their cable sports network as well.
