Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper Complicate Offseason, DeSean Jackson Contract Hurts Negotiations as Howie Roseman Concerned Over Salary Cap

Like many teams this offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles may have to choose between two players when it comes to a contract extension. The team has a crowded wide receivers roster with two key members looking to get new deals. Both Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin are looking for new deal, but only one will likely stay.

General manager Howie Roseman is admitting what most Eagles fans know, the team has some problems with their wide receiver's contracts. Keeping both Maclin and Cooper could get complicated for Philadelphia and Roseman admits he is not sure exactly the step the Eagles are going to take.

"Well, I think it is complicated, because you have guys that you want to have back and also, what resources are you going to devote to that position with the guys who are already on the roster? And then you look at it in the draft, obviously a very strong position, so I think ... it's a complicated situation but we've never ruled out bringing both of those guys back," Roseman said, via CSNPhilly.com.

Maclin has the better resume of the two receivers. While he is coming off an ACL tear that ruined his 2013 season, Maclin has been the Eagles' most productive receiver outside of DeSean Jackson since getting drafted back in 2009. He has put up double-digit touchdown seasons two near 1,000 yard receiving years before getting injured. However, coming off of injury does not help his chances at receiving a multi-year contract.

Cooper on the other hand has put up a career-high season thanks to his chemistry with quarterback Nick Foles. The receiver put up 835 yards and eight touchdowns. Ideally, the Eagles would keep both players and have a top receiving trio, but financially that is likely not possible.

Jackson becomes a bigger cap hit over the next few years. His salary spikes to $10.25 million next season, and $9.75 million the next two years of his contract. Several other players like Brandon Boykin, Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce are also looking to new deals which makes things even more complicated for Roseman.
