Syracuse will once again put their perfect record to the test as they head back on the road for another conference matchup. So far, the Orange are one of just handful of teams remaining undefeated as they have been forced to grit out a few wins recently. Facing Wake Forest on the road will certainly not be easy.
Syracuse once again ranks second behind Arizona for the eighth straight week following a strong defensive victory over conference opponent Miami. The Orange held the Hurricanes without a field goal after Miami pulled the game to a 46-all tie with just 8:20 left in the game. They hit eight consecutive free throws to end the game as Jerami Grant led the team with 16 points.
A 20-0 start would tie the team record for best start since Syracuse started 20-0 back in 2011-12. Head coach Jim Boeheim is trying to keep his players from focusing on the team record and instead working to improve with each game. The team has barely edged out of its last fed road game, beating Pittsburgh by five points and then beating Miami by five earlier in the season.
Wake forest's record is not as impressive as Syracuse's, but the Demon Deacons have won their past three of four games after losing two straight to conference opponents. Devin Thomas put up 21 points, going 10-of-11 in shooting in the win over Notre Dame while Travis McKie added 14 more points. Thomas is on a role lately, averaging 13.8 points at home while shooting 60.6 percent overall. On the road he is not nearly as impressive.
Wake Forest is undefeated at home this season. However, they have lost nine of their last 10 games to ranked opponents dating back to last season. Having home court advantage will certainly help this time around.
