The cornerback position has gotten plenty of attention in the past week after Seattle Seahawks star Richard Sherman went on blast during an Erin Andrews' interview. After sealing the win in the NFC championship game, Sherman took a little time to state that he was the best in the game. However, Darrelle Revis, currently on a losing team, disagrees with that statement.
Both Revis and Sherman have stated their beliefs regarding their talent level as cornerbacks. While attending the Pro Bowl in Hawaii, the Tampa Bay star knew a question was coming regarding the now infamous Sherman rant. Revis' biggest problem with the whole ordeal is how Sherman thinks he is the better of the two.
"I feel like I'm the best," Revis said, via NFL.com. "Deion Sanders probably feels like he is the best. Everybody has their own personal opinion. And that is how you go with it and I think that is what makes it fun. (Sherman is) saying he's the best. I'm saying I'm the best, Joe Haden thinks he's the best. ...You can go by numbers, you can go by the ball not being thrown to your side so many times, there are so many variables in it. But at the same time, we are all talented players."
Revis took the time to speak out on the rant saying Sherman expressed his opinions in the wrong way. The cornerback said he was not shocked that Sherman did what he did because he has never been a real team guy, claiming the cornerback is all about shockvalue and entertainment.
"I didn't think that was good on his part," Revis said. "If you listen to what the reporter asked him, it was nothing about him, it was about the team, and he put himself ahead of the team. Other than that, he's an entertainer. ... He talks. He probably talks in his sleep. I thought he shouldn't have said all that."
Sherman must agree with Revis because after the rant he apologized for taking the attention away from what was a great team victory. He understands that the comments were farther than football and he hopes that people start focusing on the Seahawks as a team and not on a few comments he said.
"We're talking about football here, and a lot of people took it further than football," Sherman said. "I was on a football field showing passion. Maybe it was misdirected and immature, but this is a football field. I wasn't committing any crimes and doing anything illegal. I was showing passion after a football game. It is what it is. Things like that happen and you deal with the adversity. I come from a place where it's all adversity, so what's a little more or people telling you what you can't do. I really was surprised."
