Percy Harvin Injury Update: Pete Carroll Uncertain Seattle Seahawks WR Healthy for NFC Championship Game, Hip Issue Not Factor After Concussion Diagnosis

Percy Harvin is once again questionable. The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver made his triumphant return against the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Divisional playoff game, only to be knocked out with a concussion. Harvin was taken back to the locker room for tests and did not return. While the wide receiver's hip issues appear to be behind him, he now has to await clearance once again before playing in the NFC championship game.

Head coach Pete Carroll offered up little hope during his Monday press conference regarding Harvin's status for the championship game. The wide receiver has to undergo all NFL mandated tests before then meeting with an independent doctor to get clearance on his concussion injury.

"We'll wait through the week here and see what happens," Carroll said, via the Seattle Times. "Wednesday and Thursday will be the important days to figure out what's going on."

Harvin was evaluated twice for concussions after undergoing two big hits in his first game back after almost landing on injured reserve following a reoccurring hip injury. Harvin only played in one game in the regular season after undergoing hip surgery after being traded from the Minnesota Vikings. That was certainly not the storyline the Seahawks were hoping for with the wide receiver, but 2013 has not been kind to Harvin and 2014 is not starting out well either.

Carroll stressed that Harvin's hip is not the issue any more. The head coach said that for the limited time Harvin spent on the field, his hip responded just fine. The receiver caught three passes for 21 yards before leaving the game against the New Orleans Saints.

Carroll said the training staff will take their time with Harvin in order to ensure a safe return to the field. The issue will be treated "with a ton of respect, take care of Percy and make sure we do the right thing. We're not going to stress the limits at all. We have to be very careful here, and we'll do that every step of the way."

It is no secret the Seahawks would love to have Harvin for the big matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The team gave away several draft picks in order to get the playmaker from the Minnesota Vikings and so far the return on investment has been slim to none. Carroll is confident that next season will feature and unstoppable Harvin, but he is unsure if that will happen at all this year.
