The New York Rangers may have started their 2013 season incredibly slow, but the team is on a roll lately, having recently just beaten the defending Stanley Cup Champions. The Rangers are starting to show some consistency on the ice and they hope it continues against the Dallas Stars at home in Madison Square Garden.
The Rangers must be following the trend set by the Knicks and Nets. The team is coming off an excellent stretch where they have gone 6-2-1 in their last nine games, six of seven being on the road. Their best game this season has come against the Chicago Blackhawks where they dominated the former champs, 3-2 on the road. The issue could be that the team is now at home, a place where they have struggled going just 4-8-3 recently.
Goalie Henrik Lundqvist continues to struggle since signing his contract extension. In his last 11 games at home, the goalie has gone 1-7-3 with a 3.18 goals-against average. He has done relatively well against the Stars in his career. He has a 1.72 GAA in his last three of four games against Dallas. Earlier in the season, he recorded 41 saves in the win.
The Dallas Stars have lost five-straight games and could be in for another rude awakening against New York. The team has not played this poorly since the end of last season. They are coming off a one-goal loss to the New Jersey Devils while getting routed 7-3 against the New York Islanders.
Goalie Kari Lehtonen is looking for a bounce-back game. He looked better against the Devils, putting up 34 saves after allowing seven goals against the Islanders. Tyler Seguin is also in need of a bounce-back. He leads the team with 21 goals, but has gone pointless in the last three games. The Rangers are ready to keep their hot streak going.
