Baseball Hall of Fame Class 2014: Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine Starred In One Of The Best Commercials Ever With ‘Chicks Dig The Longball’ Nike Video

With Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine making it into the Baseball Hall of Fame Class of 2014, it's fun to look back on their long and productive careers, but one of my personal favorite moments was from a Nike commercial that I always considered one of the best ever, with the two starring in the "Chicks Dig The Longball" Nike video.

The commercials takes place during the PED era of the 90s, making it almost comical now since Mark McGuire is the nexus of the video, but whatever, it's still great and it also has a Heather Locklear cameo. The commercial just screams: "THIS IS THE 1990s!" but it's so perfect in its execution it's only right to shed a light on it.

In the video, McGuire opens things up hitting a home run and getting a big cheer from Heather Locklear and the fans, prompting a warming up Glavine and Maddux to say, hey, look at us, we're Cy Young winners! Glavine and Maddux wonder how long they will worship McGuire and the two then share a look and start working out, buying new equipment and starting to work on their hitting. The two are in the cages, in the stands running and much more to comedic effect and then by the end of the video, both start blasting home runs and it ends with Locklear walking by and saying, "Hey Tom!" after they launch a homer.

After that, the two slap arms and Maddux says the title line: "Chicks dig the longball"...but then of course, right after, Locklear asks "Hey, have you guys seem Mark?" Which Glavine then perfectly imitates.

Check here for the video.
