The NBA trade rumor mill is starting to spin as it gets closer to the trading deadline and one deal that has popped up recently is the Sacramento Kings trying to get Andre Miller and reports have the team willing to offer Jimmer Fredette, Jason Thompson or Marcus Thornton to the Denver Nuggets and other options for the team includes the Utah Jazz, Chicago Bulls and the Philadelphia 76ers.
According to CBS Sports, while no formal offers have been made, the Kings are willing to deal either of those players to the Nuggets for Miller, as the team feels that a strong backup point guard and veteran presence will be good for the team. The two teams have spoken about the availability of Miller and it comes after the point guard got into an incident with head coach Brian Shaw and this comes after the Kings already have acquired Rudy Gay and Derrick Williams this season and they feel adding someone like Miller could be a great benefit for those players and for DeMarcus Cousins.
The original report from CBS said that the team is planning on offering a second round pick in the future along with Thornton, Thompson or Fredette and it could also include other picks. The Kings want to get Miller and feel like he is a solid piece for their team and to help give Isaiah Thomas some guidance as a veteran and while he just had a blowup with his coach, he has always been a veteran presence on his teams and he could do that again for the Kings. This season he is making a nice chunk, but next season he has a $4.6 million deal and only half is guaranteed and that makes it more attractive for the Kings.
The 37-year-old point guard had issues with Shaw and now he is likely gone and Fredette comes in never having caught on with the Kings and he is a likely trade option after the team declined to pick up his contract for next season, meaning he will be a free agent. The fourth year option for Fredette was declined and it comes after he has had some disappointing seasons with the team and he has never been able to get into the rotation on a regular basis. A return to Utah with the Jazz would be big, while a move to Chicago or New York or Philly could be interesting as well.
