The Texas Longhorns and the Oregon Ducks are playing one of the best non-BCS matchups of the bowl schedule in Alamo Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio and the matchup marks the final game for Mack Brown as head coach in Austin and could be one of the highest scoring of the schedule on Monday and the matchup will be on ESPN starting up at 6:45 pm and has both sides looking to end the season on a positive note.

Texas comes into the game after losing to the Baylor Bears and that game helped the team win the Big 12 conference and they are now in the BCS and they play UCF, while that loss helped set up the Alamo Bowl game for the Longhorns and the Ducks. Oregon comes in as one of the highest scoring and most productive teams in the nation and the Texas defense will have its hands full and comes during the same season that the team dismissed their defensive coordinator. Texas has an 8-4 record on the season and they went 7-2 in the conference and the team went just 1-3 against the top 25 this season and now they have a chance to win another game against a top ranked team and it comes after Oregon had the chance to stay in the national title race before getting beat by Stanford.

The Ducks and the Longhorns came into the season with expectations of winning their conferences and Oregon lost two of the final four games of the season against Stanford and Arizona to fall out of the Pac-12 and the national title hunt, while Texas dropped games down the line as well with Oklahoma State and Baylor and the Cowboys eventually got defeated by the Oklahoma Sooners and they are now in the BCS and these two teams have played five times and the last was in the Holiday Bowl over a decade ago.

Oregon comes into the game 10-2 on the season and they have been one of the most productive teams in the nation, averaging over 500 yards per game and the team is scoring over 45 points per contest and their offense will be a huge challenge for the Longhorns defense. The Ducks come into the game 7-2 on the season in the conference and so does the Longhorns and each team had a 3-2 road record and this game will be in Texas and could be a sort of home game for Mack Brown as he ends his coaching career at the school.

Texas comes into the game having lost two of three after their six game winning streak and that included a controversial win against ISU and the defense comes in allowing nearly 30 points per game and that is a huge matchup for the Ducks, as they are ranked third in the nation in scoring and ninth in rushing yards and the team is averaging 294 passing yards per game and the defense has been solid as well with over 20 points allowed per game. Marcus Mariota has been having a solid season with 3,412 yards this season and he will be coming back to school and that should put the team back in national championship position again.
