Dallas Cowboys Schedule Week 17: Philadelphia Eagles Game For NFC East Title On Sunday Night Football

Dec 24, 2013 09:08 PM EST

The Dallas Cowboys pulled out a heck of a win last week against the Washington Redskins, but they may have done it at the cost of their starting quarterback, as Tony Romo could miss the final game in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles and that game is for the division title and will be on Sunday night football starting up at 8:30 pm on NBC.

The Cowboys are playing for the NFC East for the division title for the third straight season and after losing the last two, Dallas is hoping that this time they will be on the winning side of things. Two years ago the team lost to the New York Giants in Week 17 and last season they lost to the Washington Redskins, but this time around the game is at home for the first time in three matchups, but of course, the story doesn't end there. The team now may be without Romo for the game, so for the third season in a row they could fall in the final game, but if Romo doesn't play, that could enable Jerry Jones to keep Jason Garrett as head coach for another season after many reports have said that he would be fired after the season if the team missed the playoffs again.

The Cowboys come into the game after pulling out the win against the Redskins with a last minute drive and that came after the team lost against the Green Bay Packers in tough fashion after having a double digit lead and now all the pressure is on the team to perform to on Sunday night. The Eagles had nothing to play for last week in the night game and still managed to drop 50 points on the Chicago Bears and now the Cowboys are next on the schedule and the way their defense is playing, the Eagles could drop 50 points again. Dallas has been the second worst team in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game and the team is also giving up over 120 yards per game on the ground.

The Eagles have the top passer and the leading rusher in the NFL and that hasn't been done in decades and the way Nick Foles is playing this season, the Cowboys defense needs a drastically great performance to win, especially if Romo is out. The Eagles have been one of the most productive teams in football on offense under new head coach Chip Kelly and the team is ranked in the top 10 in both passing and rushing yards per game and they are putting up points as well, scoring 54 points last week against the Bears. Foles started off the season with 19 touchdowns and zero picks and now the Eagles have the chance to make the playoffs with a victory over the Cowboys to win the NFC East and it is quite the impressive performance after the team opened the season 1-4 and then 3-6. The team has won six of the last seven games, losing only to the Minnesota Vikings on the road a couple weeks ago and they haven't lost a home game since falling to the Giants in October.

The Eagles and Cowboys play the Sunday Night Football game in Week 17 to end the season for the NFC East division title.
