Tiger Woods had himself another great year on the PGA Tour and while he did not win any majors, he won five tournaments and the player of the year award and now the star will get the chance to play at the Northwestern Mutual Challenge at Sherwood Country Club on Thursday and the event will be benefitting his charity and things get started up for Woods at his tee time of 1:25 pm ET and the first round coverage will be streaming online.

Woods comes into the event looking to get back on his major game next year and he said to reporters that he feels good about his chances next year, as he has had success at many of the courses where the major championships will be played. Woods has 14 career majors and he has not won one for quite some time and he said that he feels ready to break through next year, especially because he won the Open Championship played at Royal Liverpool the last time they had it there and he also had a victory at where the PGA championships will be in 2014. Woods is coming into Thursday after having a solid year with five wins and he has a tough field, as all 18 players playing are ranked in the top 30 and that could make for an exciting weekend of golf.

Woods is ranked number one in the world and the way he played this season means he likely will remain there for quite some time and while he had a great season on tour, he hasn't won since back in the summer at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and now he will try and win again this weekend. Woods spoke about playing better in some the major tournaments this past year and he said that he is excited to get back into things as they pick up in 2014.

After finishing this tournament Woods likely will next play in January at the Farmers Insurance Open and then at the Dubai Desert Classic and around that time his girlfriend will be in Sochi for the Olympics. Lindsey Vonn is dealing with an injury and he is expected to visit her if she makes it, as she has been to a number of his tournaments this year. According to ESPN.com, if Woods did travel to the Olympics he would miss the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and the Northern Trust Open at Riviera, tournaments that he does not usually play anyway.
