The Seattle Seahawks have the number one seed in the NFC almost locked up, but before the team does that they will need to play against their toughest divisional rival in a game on Sunday in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers and the matchup will be at Candlestick Park and will be live on FOX starting up at 4:25 pm.
The Seahawks come into the game after a dominating win in Week 13 on Monday night football and that ESPN game showed why the team is so hard to beat, as they were able to take down the New Orleans Saints by the score of 34-7. The Seahawks came out of the gate fast and Russell Wilson had a great game putting up over 350 total yards, leading the way with 310 passing yards and 47 rushing yards against a solid defense and the Seahawks showed how good they are at home, as the 12th man was in full force and the noise went to record highs at CenturyLink Field.
The team came into the matchup down two cornerbacks, but they still were able to stop Drew Brees and the high flying Saints offense and now the team ranks first in the NFL in passing yards per game. Richard Sherman has shown why he is considered one of the best corners in the league and the Seahawks now have only lost to the Colts this season and while the back stretch of the schedule has some tough games, the team appears ready. Marshawn Lynch has the team ranked first in rushing yards per game and after playing against the Saints, the team now is 13th in rushing yards allowed and they are allowing less than 180 yards passing per contest.
The team has a nice lead in the division over the 49ers and they can end any chance at the team coming back with a win on Sunday and it also would prove to the NFL that the team is just as good on the road as they are at home, where Wilson is undefeated as a starter in two seasons. The Seahawks play the next two games on the road and then will finish the schedule with two division rivals. The team plays against the 49ers in San Francisco before visiting the New York Giants and then the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals and St. Louis Rams in divisional games to finish the season and by then the team could still need those games to lock up home field advantage in the NFC.
