Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Nick Foles Named Starter Over Michael Vick For 2013 Season

The Philadelphia Eagles have finally stated the obvious about their game on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 13, as Nick Foles has been named the starter for the rest of the season over Michael Vick by head coach Chip Kelly after he has played lights out over the past month.

Foles has been excellent in the new offense from Kelly and the Eagles are now tied for first place in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys and they are coming off of a bye on Sunday when they play the Arizona Cardinals at home. According to ESPN.com, Kelly announced the news on Tuesday and said that Vick would be the number two player this week on the depth chart if he can practice fine and he said that Foles would remain the starter for the rest of the season. Foles came in after Vick was injured earlier in the season and he was the best quarterback in the league over the past month, throwing for seven touchdowns in a game and he had 16 touchdowns overall and no interceptions and that puts him in some high company.

Kelly made the decision after Vick was ruled back healthy enough to play and he will be ahead of Matt Barkley on the depth chart and that means it's likely that Vick has started his last game for the Eagles barring an injury. Vick was signed to a one year deal, but with Foles under control for a couple more seasons and Barkley a rookie and looking solid, Vick is likely done with the team.

The Eagles have been very streaky this season, but they are on a winning one right now at three games heading into the back stretch and that came after two losses, two wins, three losses and the opening win over the Redskins. The team has been playing very well over this stretch and the team is ranked first in rushing yards per game this season and in the top 10 in passing yards and total offense.
