The Monday Night Football matchup for Week 12 has the Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers playing on ESPN and the nationally televised game will start up at 8:30 pm and will be at FedEx Field and the game is huge for both teams, as they are coming off losses and looking to get back on track heading into the back stretch of the schedule.

The Redskins are coming into the game after a tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and after winning the NFC East division last season, the team is now in last place and struggling after losing three of four games and now they have a very tough matchup against the Niners, who represented the NFC in the Super Bowl last season. The team has two division games in three weeks with the New York Giants coming next and that game will be on the road on Sunday night football on NBC for Week 13 and that makes two national night games in a row for the Redskins and a short week to prepare for the crucial division matchup.

The team comes in ranked first in the league in rushing yards per game this season and 11th in passing yards, but the defense has been the primary issue and they are ranked 26th in passing yards allowed and the team is also allowing over 110 yards rushing per game and that will be a big factor on Monday night against the San Francisco 49ers. The team hasn't put together any consistent play this season and they don't have any winning streaks, just random wins mixed in between disappointing games and over the past two weeks the team has lost on the road both times and now they are going into a crucial stretch at home, with three games in a row and four of the next five coming at FedEx Field and to have any chance at getting back into the race the team needs to perform well during this stretch.

The team plays against the New York Giants twice over the final weeks of the season and that game comes after playing the Niners at home and the first matchup will be in Washington before the teams finish the season in Week 17 at MetLife Stadium. The Redskins will play the Kansas City Chiefs after the Giants and after playing on the road against the Atlanta Falcons in a matchup of two disappointing teams that made the playoffs last season, the team ends the schedule with two divisional matchups, playing the Dallas Cowboys at home before travelling to play the Giants.

The Niners are coming off of a tough loss to the New Orleans Saints last week that ended in controversial fashion and the team next has a divisional matchup against the St. Louis Rams before a huge matchup at home against the Seattle Seahawks and the team comes in struggling in the passing game with Colin Kaepernick. The team is ranked fifth in rushing and this is a huge matchup for both sides.
